This Oscar de la Renta jacket is a production piece based on what was show on the runway that season. The same pattern was used on several pieces in the runway show and I have included reference photos of those so you can see how closely the design on this jacket was carried over.
The jacket is gorgeous and has that classic ODLR feel to it with a touch of exoticism. The workmanship is beautiful and I love how the colors pop off the black velvet back drop. It is cut in a simple boxed shape with the slightest of curving in at the waist. It has no collar, cuffs or hem so that the applique work that has been done on it can take full center stage. The sequin & embroidery work follow the runway presentation almost exactly with a heavy collar and cuffs formed from the sequins done in tightly spaces rows of different colors and patterns. Little cross patterns made of white sequins topped with different colored threads are scattered over the body of the jacket. Down either side of the front edge and in a heavy border all around the bottom hem is more of the dense workmanship. It is gorgeous and even better on person. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a black silk and slips on to wear with no closures. It appears to have never been worn, or worn very little. Hand finishes. Tagged a US6
